Community

The original name of the Asociación “Misión Heredad de Jacob” was “Faith in Action Christian Community”. Our original motto was Psalm 133. Even now, we see God forming a community, a neighbourhood of believers. What we originally thought would be a community of children’s homes, now has expanded to include elderly homeless pastors, all ages of those celebrating recovery from substance abuse, inner healing and freedom prayer facilitators, Christian education, outreaches to children in the surrounding farming communities, and whatever other ways God will show us, to serve Him and spreading the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven.

In 2007, Jesus indicated a piece of land for sale, and the necessary donations arrived in order to purchase the 45 acre parcel now owned by the Asociación “Misión Heredad de Jacob”. This land is located at about 8000 feet elevation, in a small canyon, 45 minutes drive above the city of Huánuco, in the central highlands of Peru. The climate here is tropical, and temperatures are almost the same year around, with daily highs in the 70’s and lows at night in the 50’s. There is a rainy season October to March, and a dry season April to September.

We have an established orchard of cherimoya tress, avocado trees, peach trees, lucuma trees, and newly planted banana, mango, and apple trees. In this climate we can produce berries and whatever types of vegetables one might be inspired to plant.

We look up in the evening sky in the dry season months to see the five stars of the Southern Cross constellation shining in the southern starry sky, reminding us of Jesus and the moment of the piercing of His side from which flowed blood and water. In the not too distant west are the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash mountain ranges with the highest peaks in Peru, snow capped, towering above 22,000 feet of elevation. And just above us in our canyon, to the east, is a mountain peak resembling the profile of a lion, as a smiley sort of reminder that the Lion of Judah is always watching over us.

We invite you to come to visit us. Visit us for a short time, a longer time, or come to live here and carry on the work into the next generation. Help grow a congregation, and, to use Jesus’ terminology, “lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest”.

Come join us, sowing and reaping “fruit for life eternal”, together. Indeed there are very many in this canyon who need to get to know Jesus. Help grow a Christian education program, so that children and adolescents can grow up getting to know Jesus. Visit with elderly pastors, listening to their testimonies of years of service in the most remote highlands. Join us in the times of praise and worship singing with those sing so fervently in gratitude for their lives having been brought back from the destruction of substance abuse. Come take abandoned children into your home as foster parents. Come join us working in the orchards and gardens.

Yes, come and join us as we plant and grow a botanical garden of flowers and trees in a place designated for retreats, rest and relaxation, in the country quiet. If you hear Jesus calling you and sending you to join our community, there is plenty of space for you to build your house and the yard surrounding it. If Jesus invites you, we, in agreement, invite you.

Psalm 133, the flow of anointing, the flow of blessings, the flow of a goodness and pleasantness of a neighbourhood living in the unity of the brethren. Visit, stay for a while, catch the vision and mission. Welcome!
